It is easy to get lost in the beauty that is the city of San Francisco. But about an hour south of San Francisco, near the coast, sits the beautiful city of Monterey Bay. Monterey Bay is home to the amazing Monterey Bay Aquarium.

There are many words I can use to describe it, but I’ll try to sum it up with a phrase, “breath taking.” As soon as you walk in you see and feel how big of an aquarium this is. We walked in made a left and were immersed in an incredible Kelp Forrest.

My personal favorite exhibit and a great way to start off your visit to the aquarium. I sat there for almost an hour admiring the view and watching sea creatures swim by before moving on to the rest of the aquarium.

In walking around through all the exhibits I couldn’t help but notice how interactive it was. So many fun activities for both kids and adults to enjoy. Its a great place for guest of all ages to enjoy with family, friends, or even by your self. I mentioned the Kelp Forest, another exhibit that was memorable was the Open Sea exhibit. An exhibit that featured a darkened room with jelly fish and another room with a massive tank filled with fish, sharks, sting rays, and a sea turtle!

When we needed a break, we stopped by the cafe for some coffee and to have a seat. The cafe has indoor seating, but the weather was beautiful and you cannot beat this view from the aquarium looking out to the sea.

Monterey Bay Aquarium is my absolute favorite aquarium that I have visited. It’s size, exhibits, and views cannot be beat. It also helps that it is located in a beautiful city and only 10 minutes away from Carmel by the Sea. If you are ever headed up North or coming back to L.A from San Francisco, I highly recommend visiting. But you may need a whole day to take in the entire aquarium.
