First it was the NBA, then the MLS, followed by the MLB and the L.A Mayor pleading that any gatherings larger than 250 people be canceled or postponed. Now comes word, from the mouse himself, that Disneyland along with Disney’s California Adventure, Walt Disney World in Orlando, the Disney Cruise Line, and Disneyland Paris will very soon close for the entire month of March!

This Saturday, March 14th Disneyland will close its doors as the state of California, and frankly the whole country, will try to stop the spread of COVID-19 (also known as the Corona Virus) with social isolation. The Mayor of Los Angeles has also asked that events with a gathering of more than 250 people be canceled or postponed.
These drastic measures were taken by China, quarentining the country for around 30 days, and now they are seeing positive results. The virus in China has now decreased and their country has, in a sense, gone back to normal. Italy is in the middle of their 30 day shutdown, only allowing citizens to leave their homes to go grocery shopping. They hope to get similar results, less infected, once their shut down ends.
California has a low amount of infected Corona Virus patients, but they want to put a halt to the virus and not let those numbers increase. That is why we have seen a suspension of professional sports, the plea to stop large gatherings, and now the closure of popular theme parks like Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood.
COVID-19 has a low fatality rate, so there is no need to panic. But let’s all be cautious, let’s wash our hands whenever we can, cover our coughs and sneezes, try not to touch our face, and try to avoid crowded public places. And please, please! Stop over stocking on toilet paper!
