Oh the Horror! Halloween screams have begun as Universal Studios kicked off Horror Nights this past weekend. One of the most popular “Scares” around L.A, Horror Nights this year is filled with scare filled mazes. Some of this mazes include Stranger Things and US, the Jordan Peele horror block buster. Along with these two mazes there are: Ghost Busters, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, Holidayz in Hell, Pandora’s Box, Creep Show, the Walking Dead Attraction (it is year around, but only open during Horror Nights from September to October), and Rob Zombie’s “House of a 1000 Corpses.”

It may not be the scariest, but as a GhostBusters fan, the GhostBusters’ Maze was my absolute favorite! This maze has tons of jump scares, but what made it my favorite was the story it told! It was basically a scare walk through of the original, classic, 1984 film. Without giving too much away, you will see slimmer, Ghostbusters, ghost, and yes! of course! Stay Puft Marshmallow Man! This maze is located in the Metro Set, along with Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man and Creep Show. I suggest going to these 3 mazes first as wait times for the Metro Set area can get quite long, and it’s the most “out of the way” area. You have first go to the Lower Lot, then walk through a scare tunnel to get there and get back. Speaking of the Lower Lot, Stranger Things maze is the only maze there, so I suggest getting that done once you are done with the Metro Set area. Then go through all the mazes in the Upper Lot.

A’hoy their sailor! One of my favorite things that Universal Horror Nights did this year was have themed food!! In the Metro Set (where Ghostbusters is located) I ate a hot dog that looked like Slimmer licked it first before I got it, and it was delicious! And in the Lower Lot, where the Stranger Things maze is located, you can find Scoops A’Hoy! If you’re a Stranger Things fan you know the significance of this ice cream parlor. But if you’re not, this ice cream shop can be seen in Season 3 of Stranger Things and is actually (spoiler alert!) located above a secret laboratory! But back to Horror Nights, yes you can get ice cream here and yes they have Stranger Things themed ice cream like The Mindflayer. If ice cream is not your thing, directly across you can get food from the Starcourt Food Court.
This event is truly a frightfully great time! If you’re into scares this is a must go to event. But I will advice, since it is so great, it is very popular. And with popularity and a good time comes a crowed. So it does tend to get crowded. I suggest getting a Front of the Line Pass or if you are sticking with GA, arrive early and get the Metro Set done first.
